New Region 5 Representative
Please welcome our new Regional Representative Theresa Kouri for Region 5, which includes buildings 3363, 3365, 3366, 3367, 3486, 3398, 3500, and 3510.
DirecTV Information Hub Now Live
As Laguna Woods Village transitions to DirecTV, a new Village-specific information hub brings together package details, channel lineups, upgrade options, and support resources in one place. The Village package includes more than 90 channels, local broadcast stations, HBO and Cinemax, Paramount+ with Showtime, DVR and streaming capabilities, and two Gemini devices with voice remotes. Optional upgrades — sports, premium channels, and international packages — are available directly through DirecTV and billed to the resident.
July 9 General Membership Meeting Recap
Our July 9 General Membership Meeting drew a full house, featuring a Ting internet update from Jose Campos and Paul Ortiz of VMS, with Third Mutual Board President Robert Mutchnick on hand to answer resident questions.
More than 6,200 Village residents now have Ting internet. Garden Villa buildings have proven challenging due to terrain and large trees — especially third floors — but Ting is working on solutions, expected by mid-September. Gemini DirecTV boxes begin arriving the first week of August (Gates 9 and 10 in September), TiVo shuts down October 30, and the new Gemini boxes will record with no monthly charge. Once installed, Ting ($40/month) and DirecTV ($25/month) will be included in HOA fees starting January 2027 — no charge before then.

⚠️ Disaster Preparedness for Older Adults — July 22
Prepare so you can help protect — 9:30 AM in Clubhouse 7
Host: VMS Security, DP Team · Presenter: American Red Cross
The Golden Rain Foundation Disaster Preparedness Committee and the VMS Security Services Department invite everyone to an important presentation by the American Red Cross. Learn essential steps to stay safe during a disaster and understand what to expect during recovery. Light refreshments will be provided.
All three-story residents are strongly encouraged to attend.
July Landscaping Committee Update
Here is the latest news from the Landscape Committee meeting on July 2:
- Lawn Care: Dethatching (removing dead grass and debris to keep lawns healthy) will resume in October.
- Prior to Paint Program: Work in Gate 14 is almost complete. The team will move to Gate 10 by the end of summer.
- Rodent Control: To help manage rodent issues, fruit trees are now being removed upon request or during the escrow process.
- Fire Safety: CA state-mandated Zone 0 rules are close at hand. Landscapers will be clearing a minimum 1-foot safety zone around structures in high fire-risk areas.
- Pesticide Testing: Our landscaping team tests new organic pesticides every two years. Results show our current choice remains the safest, most effective, and most affordable option.
